I have news, and I wanted you to hear it here.
My new book, Rebuilding What Matters Most: Nehemiah’s Lessons for Faith, Renewal, and Courage, comes out on November 1 in hardcover, paperback, and Kindle. And if you’d rather hear it read in my voice, I narrated the audiobook myself, and it’s coming soon to Audible.
That’s the cover above. Five stones stacked on top of each other. No bulldozer, no dramatic before-and-after. Just steady, one-at-a-time rebuilding, which is how it usually goes in real life.
The book grew out of a six-week series we did at LifePoint Christian Church earlier this year. Nehemiah hears that Jerusalem’s walls are broken, and before he travels, plans, or lifts a stone, he sits down and weeps. Then he prays. He confesses. He remembers what God has promised. Only then does he get to work.
I think a lot of us are standing in front of something that needs rebuilding. Maybe it’s a faith that has gotten tired, a relationship that has grown distant, or priorities at home that don’t match what we say we believe. The question isn’t really whether something needs attention. It’s where to begin.
So here’s the question I’ll be asking for the next few weeks, and I’d love for you to sit with it too:
What in your life needs rebuilding, and what would it look like to begin with God?
Hit reply if you want to tell me. I read what you send.
You can preorder a signed or personalized paperback from my website. It’s $12, I’ll write a personal note if you’d like, and it ships when the book releases. (It makes a good Christmas gift or a thank-you for a small-group leader.) There’s a study guide in the back too, so it works well for small groups. If you read on Kindle, that preorder is live now on Amazon for $7.99: a.co
More soon,
Phil
