Two-Tiered Justice? Elderly Pro-Lifers Convicted by DOJ
The Grandmas Could Spend 11 Years In Prison For Their Crime
Talk about heavy-handed justice. The DOJ has thrown the book at two septuagenarian women for, get this, protesting abortion. Joan Bell, 74, and Jean Marshall, 73, weren't orchestrating some grand heist. No, they were showcasing their pro-life beliefs outside an abortion clinic.
These elderly activists, along with Johnathan Darnell (41), were slapped with charges including felony conspiracy against rights and violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, known to most as the FACE Act. This Act was designed to punish those who obstruct women accessing abortion services or pregnancy resource centers.
The “massive conspiracy”? Creating a blockade to the clinic entrance. Joan even took off her outer shirt, revealing a yellow one underneath bearing the words "Pro-life".
With potential penalties including up to 11 years behind bars and a whopping fine of $350,000, you'd think they were cartel leaders, not passionate seniors.
But here's the real kicker: While these "dangerous" elderly citizens face the might of the DOJ, countless “protesters” who've trashed businesses, vandalized churches, and toppled statues often get off scot-free. Sadly, there’s almost no penalties ascribed to those who are protesting organizations that promote conservative or christian values.
What's a Christian to do? Well, we shouldn't be shocked. As Jesus warned, the world would despise those embodying Christian values. As recorded in the Book of John:
“If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first. If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.” John 15:18-19
Our course of action? Pray. Not just for the persecuted, but also for the persecutors. Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:43-45
Let's not forget our mission: to champion the voiceless, echoing the Proverbs that urge us to "speak for those who cannot speak". And while we're at it, remember the bigger battle at play, against the spiritual forces of darkness.
The number of political figures who’ve committed (and continue to commit) crimes far worse than this with no justice is mind boggling. I doubt any “summer of love” BLM protesters have received this type of punishment or prosecution.
