Welcome to "Not to Speak is to Speak," a Substack inspired by the poignant words of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and nurtured by the rich heritage of biblical truth. I am your host, a Christian pastor and leader, who, like many, once believed in the separation of faith and politics. However, after immersing myself in the life of Bonhoeffer through Eric Metaxas' inspiring biography, I have come to understand that my voice is not just necessary, but imperative.

Bonhoeffer, a Lutheran pastor, and theologian who resisted the Nazi regime, has become a beacon for this journey. His courage, coupled with the biblical narratives of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Jeremiah, Malachi, and countless others, have illustrated that there is indeed a time and place for Christians to contribute to conversations of societal importance.

This Substack is not an arena for divisiveness but a platform for open discourse. It is a space where we will tackle subjects that some may deem too political or too controversial. It is a call for us to step out of our comfort zones and engage with the pressing moral issues of our time, such as abortion, the pressure around transgender identities, and the pervasive moral decline in society.

As the title implies, silence can be its form of speech. Our unwillingness to engage with these topics might unintentionally communicate our consent or indifference. However, the calling we have as Christians challenges us to uphold truth, justice, and love, even in the face of potential backlash or misunderstanding.

Join me in this endeavor as we navigate these waters together, using our faith as our compass and Christ's love as our guide. In this Substack, every voice matters, every opinion counts, and every individual is cherished. Here, we remember that to be silent is also to speak. So, let's start speaking. To find out more about the company that provides the tech for this newsletter, visit Substack.com.
